South West Montérégie, in the province of Quebec, is a region southeast of Montreal along the south shore of the St Lawrence River, southwest of Highway 10, and west of the Highway 15. Some of the municipalities of this area are Beauharnois, Candiac, Châteauguay, Delson, Léry, Ormstown, Saint-Constant, Saint-Mathieu, Sainte-Catherine, St-Rémi and Ste-Martine.

South West Montérégie, an area of cities and villages, is a suburb of Montreal. It is larger in area than North Montérégie with large towns along the St Lawrence River and wide spread villages farther south. The urban nightlife of Montreal is a short trip away. Delson’s commuter train station provides access to Montreal while the more distant Ormstown, known for its unique shops and numerous antiques dealers, is only 65 km away. Maple groves and maple syrup are abundant while the many regional farms produce squash, apples, fruits, vegetables and wines. The International Balloon Festival at Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu or other local festivals add excitement. Historical sites and summer theatres are available through out the region. Fall’s crisp air brings magnificent orange, red and yellow foliage from summer’s green landscape and a harvest of local produce.

Recreational opportunities are plentiful with camping, fishing, boating, hiking, diving, canoeing and golf to name just a few. Cycling along the Chateauguay River is a popular summer activity as is exploring one of the many other cycling paths. Take a hike on the islands of the St Lawrence River or enjoy one of the lake and river beaches. There is always something to do.

Cold winters with temperatures varying between -5 C to -9 C and warm humid summer of 19 C to 27 C are the norm.
