York Region is located in south central Ontario, between Toronto and Lake Simcoe. It is directly north of Toronto and Ontario’s “Golden Horseshoe,” Canada’s major industrial and consumer market that surrounds the western end of Lake Ontario. It boasts a population of over 800 000, making it one of the most populous areas on Ontario.
York Region includes the following towns: Aurora, East Gwillimbury, Georgina, King, Newmarket, Richmond Hill, Whitchurch-Stouffville. It also includes the cities of Markham and Vaughan. Markham is the high tech capital of Canada with numerous high profile companies, including AMD, IBM Canada and Motorola Canada. It provides excellent schooling and healthcare. Vaughan is directly north of Toronto and expanding with many new communities. In addition to these areas, the landscape encompasses farmlands, wetlands, kettle lakes, the Oak Ridges Moraine, and over 2,070 hectares of regional forest. York provides excellent public transportation networks that make traveling throughout the region and to Toronto very convenient.

A variety of cultural festivals and theater performances are available across the seasons and provide a myriad of things to do and see. Water recreation is available year-round at Lake Simcoe from swimming, boating, canoeing, fishing and even ice fishing in the winter.
