About Toronto East

Toronto is the largest city in Canada, and is the capital of the province of Ontario. It is Canada's financial, commercial, industrial and cultural center, and one of the world’s most livable cities. Toronto has low crime rates, a generally high standard of living, clean environment and a multicultural diversity, making it one of the most popular cities to live in. In fact, Toronto is one of the world’s top financial centres and because of its international and cosmopolitan population, also considered a global city.

Toronto East covers the Beaches neighbourhood, up to Danforth Avenue in the north. The Beach community is characterized by semi’s and large-scale Edwardian, Victorian and new-style houses. In addition, there are also low-rise apartment buildings and a few row-houses. Because of its close proximity to the beach, which is a single stretch of sandy shoreline, Toronto East has a lakeside resort town atmosphere. The Danforth Village is famous for its shopping district – the many restaurants and shops reflect its multicultural community, and yet houses are very affordable here. Leslieville contains cozy houses, quaint stores and provide a contrasting serene and peaceful community to the busting city, despite its closeness to the city’s centre. The Playter Estates refer to homes located directly east of Don Valley. Homes in this area are beautiful and surrounded by a first-class shopping district and have convenient access to Toronto’s public transit. Riverdale is the gateway to Toronto East. It’s famous for its vibrant shopping districts and picturesque Victorian homes with magnificent maples.

Because of its proximity to Lake Ontario, Toronto’s climate is moderate for Canada. The city experiences four distinct seasons with warm, humid summers to cold winters. Temperatures remain below -10°C in the winter and reach to 35°C in the summer. The spring and autumn seasons are generally mild or cold.

A recent MLS Listing in 2008 showed an average selling price of $380,000 for a home in Toronto. Houses in Riverdale start at $400,000 and much higher in prime streets. Use the form on this page to search for your Toronto Victorian home, waterfront home, or low-rise apartment today.
