Sudbury is the largest city in Northern Ontario and is located about 390 kilometres from Toronto. Filled with copper and nickel mines, Sudbury is also known as Nickel City. There is a gigantic replica of the Canadian five cent piece known as the Big Nickel; at 9 meters high and 61 centimeters thick, it is definitely the largest coin in the world and Sudbury’s most famous landmark. Within the city, there are more than 200 lakes, including Lake Wanapitei. With its 7.5km diameter, it is the largest lake in the world contained within a single city.

Sudbury’s climate is comfortably warm in the summer and rainy in the late summer and early autumn. Winters are quite cool and snowy with an average of 18°C.For most of the year, Sudbury is generally bright and sunny.
