The small town of Fort Erie lies on the Niagara River in Ontario, Canada. It is also located directly across the river from Buffalo, New York. The town beaches on Lake Erie. It’s home to the famous Bay Beach and Crystal Beach, which are also considered the best in the area and popular recreation spots from people in both the Buffalo and Toronto areas.
It is one of the fastest growing communities in Niagara and a high level of commercial and residential development has surged in the past few years. Villages offer their own distinctive spotlights as well. There is the Annual Siege Weekend in mid-August where one of the bloodiest battles during the War of 1812 is re-enacted at the Old Fort Erie. Old Fort Erie was used during the War of 1812 by Britain to fight off American forces and has since been restored as a historical landmark. In October, Niagara Christian College and Niagara Parkway host the Heritage Day Festival and Craft Show.
North Fort Erie contains many single family homes, with several urban areas including Douglastown and Stevensville. It also includes many lakefront neighbourhoods such as Waverly Beach and Fort Erie Beach, Fort Erie West, Fort Erie as well as Fort Erie North.
