About Mississauga

Mississauga is situated in the province of Ontario and is Canada’s sixth largest city. With a population of 700,000, it is also Ontario’s third largest city. It is bordered by Milton and Oakville to the west, Brampton to the north, Lake Ontario to the south and Toronto to the east. Mississauga contains seven major highways passing through and connects to prominent destinations not just in Canada but also the U.S.

Mississauga is home to the renowned Square One Shopping Centre. It’s the largest mall in Ontario boasting more than one million square feet of retail space, offering everything from jewelry to house wares, leather goods to apparel. Another popular mall is the Erin Mills Town Centre featuring over 200 shops, and right alongside Lake Ontario, is Port Credit, providing another scenic shopping adventure. The Mississauga Chinese Centre’s gate towers at 43-foot tall and is enclosed by modern replicas of astounding Chinese architecture, providing a cultural experience featuring authentic Chinese accessories, apparel and gifts.

Mississauga has more than 480 parks and woodlands with endless recreational opportunities. Cycling, rollerblading, tennis are popular in the summer whereas ice skating, tobogganing and cross-country skiing dominate n the winter. Along Lake Ontario and extending from Niagara-on-the-Lake to the border of Quebec, is a stretch over 650 km long known as the Waterfront Trail. If you are looking for more of an adventure, windsurfing and canoeing are popular at Jack Darling Park, but there are also leisure activities such as baseball or tennis or a nice stroll along the beach. J.C. Saddington Park is the perfect spot for passionate fishermen as the area is rich in all kinds of salmon, including Chinook and steelhead. Those interesting in boating alone can take advantage of the Credit Village Marina. In addition, there are quite a few golf courses for the novice and pro alike.

Mississauga has its host of cultural attractions as well in its Living Arts Centre. Also, many local Canadian artists and their media are displayed at the Art Gallery of Mississauga.

With its proximity to Lake Ontario, Mississauga's climate is moderate for Canada. The city experiences four distinct seasons with warm, humid summers to cold winters. Temperatures remain below -10°C in the winter and reach to 35°C in the summer. The spring and autumn seasons are generally mild or cold.
