About Brantford

Brantford is located between London and Hamilton on the Grand River in southwestern Ontario. It is one hour west of Toronto and filled with historic culture. It is named after Captain Joseph Brant, leader of the Six Nations who settled by the Grand River, Canada’s designated Heritage River. The Grand River played a crucial role in Brantford’s economic growth and development, especially in the 1800’s as raw materials and goods were transported to the Great Lakes. Today, there has been dramatic growth in small businesses in addition to the already booming and diverse 380 industries represented.

Along with its vibrant entrepreneurial spirit, Brantford has a hometown feel, surrounded by the natural beauty of waterways and spectacular landscapes. It is so beautiful that it is known as the “Best Bloomin’ City in Canada" due to its well-maintained gardens and parks. It is also known as the Telephone City after its famous resident Alexander Graham Bell. There are many festivals and activities, unique shops, various sports tournaments, a world-class-theater and architectural feat known as the a href="http://www.sandersoncentre.ca/">Sanderson Centre, and a numerous variety of restaurants. At the Earl Haig Family Fun Park there are many adventures awaiting families including water attractions, go-karts, batting cages, miniature golf and picnic areas. MohawkPark is also a popular place to visit. Brantford is home to Mohawk College, Wilfrid Laurier University-Laurier Brantford, and Nipissing University among other colleges. The Wayne Gretzky Sports Centre offers three arenas including an Olympic-sized pool, weight and fitness rooms, two football fields with lights, two softball diamonds, tennis courts and soccer fields for the sports recreation fanatic.

Temperatures in Brantford range from -6°C in winter to 21°C in summer.
