St. John’s is the provincial capital of Newfoundland and Labrador and one of the oldest cities in North America. Located on the Island of Newfoundland’s Avalon Peninsula, St. John’s juts eastward into the northern Atlantic Ocean. St. John’s is at the eastern end of Highway 1, the Trans-Canada Highway, and can also be reached via ferry from Sydney, Nova Scotia and via the St. John’s International Airport.
